How to use the Date Difference Calculator

Count calendar days or Monday–Friday weekdays between two dates. Choose whether to include both dates and see whole weeks and leftover days.

Formula

Date difference = (end date at UTC midnight − start date at UTC midnight) ÷ 86,400,000 ms. Business days count Monday–Friday only.

Worked example

From November 1 to November 30, 2026 there are 29 elapsed calendar days; counting both dates gives 30.

Important things to know

Weekday calculations exclude Saturdays and Sundays, not public holidays. Select a local holiday calendar separately when legal precision is necessary.

Can I save or share this calculation?

Frequently asked questions

Does the count include the end date?

By default the end date is not counted, so 1 to 2 November is 1 day. Switch on “include end date” to count both days (2 days).

How are weekdays counted?

Weekday mode counts Monday to Friday only. Public holidays and local working calendars are not excluded, so subtract holidays yourself if needed.

Can the end date be before the start date?

Yes. The result is then negative, which tells you the end date is earlier than the start date.
